Interested in a unique farm experience? Join us for a farm visit and spinning workshop which will last approximately 4 hours.
In this class we will explore creating Icelandic yarns on your spinning wheel. Using the lovely soft roving from the Icelandic sheep, we will explore creating this type of yarn with just enough twist to create our own Icelandic yarns, learning to control the twist and create an even soft lofty yarn. These yarns will have a softness to them not seen in the mass-produced commercial Icelandic style yarns due to the wonderful fibre made by our sheep! Each student in this class will be given 100g of Icelandic roving.
Students will bring their own wheels for this workshop. Part of the class will be setting up the tension and ratios to get the best results for your yarn. We will talk about consistency and controlling twist. If time is allowing, we will cover different thickness of yarn and the possibility of plying the yarn if that is preferred.
This workshop will take place on the farm in the sheep barn. Meet the makers behind our beautiful wool. Truly connect with your project as you meet the sheep that your fibre comes from. They may even keep you company while you create with their wool! Includes all tools, supplies and fibre necessary to complete your project.
Class limited to 10 participants. Cost - $125 per person.
You can also check out our farm shop if you'd like to take home some wool products from our flock.
